Your data, your call.
We collect as little as possible. Here is all of it.
What we collect
Nothing that identifies you, unless you write to us. There are no accounts on a server: your profile, picks, trivia scores and posts are saved only in this browser (local storage), and you can clear them at any time from your browser settings.
Analytics (optional)
If you click Accept on the cookie banner, we load Google Analytics 4 to count visits: which pages are read, roughly where visitors come from (country and city) and what device they use. IP addresses are not stored by Google Analytics 4. Google sets cookies named _ga to tell visits apart. If you choose No thanks, or ignore the banner, Google Analytics is never loaded.
If you email fanmail@worldcupsupporters.com, we use your address only to reply, and don't add it to any list.
Social media
Our Facebook and Instagram accounts are run on Meta's platforms, under Meta's privacy policy. Links to them from this site don't send Meta anything until you click.
YouTube
Our YouTube channel (youtube.com/@WCSupporters) publishes short videos made from this site's archive. We upload them with YouTube API Services, using a tool that only has access to our own channel. It doesn't collect, store or share any information about you or any other YouTube user: the only thing we keep is the ID of each video we upload. When you watch or interact with our videos on YouTube, you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google's Privacy Policy covers the data YouTube collects.
Deleting your data
We hold no personal data from YouTube or Google. Anything kept in your browser (profile, picks, scores, posts, the analytics choice) can be deleted by clearing this site's data in your browser settings. If you have ever connected your Google account to a tool of ours, you can remove its access at any time from your Google security settings. To have any message you sent us deleted, email fanmail@worldcupsupporters.com: we delete it within 30 days.
Third parties
Pages load fonts from Google Fonts, the page code library from unpkg.com, and flag images from flagcdn.com. These services see your IP address when your browser fetches the files, as with any website. We don't sell or share data with anyone.
